Your Medicare eligibility
Medicare is a health insurance program from the federal government, for people 65 or older, and younger individuals with disabilities or health conditions. It includes Part A (hospital care) and Part B (doctor services).
To be eligible for Medicare, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Legal permanent residents must live in the U.S. for at least five continuous years prior to the month they apply for Medicare. You must also meet at least one of the following requirements:

If you’re turning 65 and new to Medicare
You can enroll in Original Medicare Parts A and B during your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) which is;
If you are already receiving Social Security benefits four months prior to your 65th birthday month, you will automatically be enrolled in Original Medicare Parts A and B.
Once you have Original Medicare Parts A and B you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) or a stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan (Part D). Most Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug (Part D) coverage.

If you have both Medicare and MO HealthNet (Medicaid)
If you’re enrolled in both Medicare and MO HealthNet, Healthy Blue Missouri has special plans with additional Medicare Advantage benefits to meet your needs. If you need help paying for a Medicare Advantage plan, there are resources for you. Medicare Savings Programs can cover items such as plan premiums, copays, deductibles, and more, if you meet the income criteria.
